On the 27th of August, the 12th Kuala Lumpur Company Boys’ Brigade Company held its’ Swimming Outing in the PJ Palms Sports Centre. It was truly an exciting day because this day was the first outing in the year which aims to strengthen the bond of members. A swimming test was also conducted at the same time and the members who took and passed the test will get a new badge-Swimming Badge.
At 8.30 am, 45 members inclusive of 10 NCO and 4 officers were present for the outing. Corporal Teh Eng Hong called for fall in at the entrance. Then, Captain Nicholas Yeap greeted us and started the registration. After that, Corporal Teh Eng Hong collected the entrance fees from us and got the tickets. The tickets were given out and the members excitedly ran to the pool and change their attire. Shortly after that, they jumped into the pool to do some warm ups to prevent muscle cramps later. At 8.55 am, the members gathered at the vicinity of the pool while Captain Nicholas briefed us who were taking the test. Most of the members present took the test. There were be three sections to the test. The test required the member to swim a distance of either 400 metres in any style without a time limit or swim 100 metres in any style with time limit, most members took the 400 metres test but some took 100 metres test; the second section required candidates to underwater for a duration of 17 seconds or swim and reach 15 metres. More than half of the members took the 17 second test but some took the 15 metres test. The third section required candidates to tread water up to a duration of 30 seconds. The first test was conducted by Lance Corporal Jasper Chin, Lance Corporal Jayden Tan and Lance Corporal Jonathan Chin while second test and third test were conducted by Captain Nicholas Yeap. The names of those who had passed the test was listed on a paper upon successfully completing the test. Many members rested after the first test as it used up most of their energy. Many members needed to redo second test as swimming for a duration of 17 seconds and 15 metres underwater was not an easy task.

Then, everyone went to the restroom to have a shower. After that, Corporal Teh Eng Hong called for fall in. After that, we sung the BB Vesper and having a group photo.
