12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade Enrolment and Awards Day 2017

On the 17th of June, the 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade Company held its annual Enrolment and Awards Day at the Wesley Hall of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International). It was an exciting day because that was the day where recruits were officially enrolled to privates and the membership of current members were renewed.

At 8.00 am, the inspection of the Guard of Honour took place. A team consisting of 27 members dressed smartly in their ceremonial attire, standing smartly in their formation at the assembly ground. After the Marching in of the Colour Party, Mr Oliver Wong led the opening prayer to commit that day in God’s Hand so that everything would run smoothly. Then, it was time for praise and worship God. After Praise and Worship, Mr Andy Tan, followed by Madam Pearl Moses, the deputy principal of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) gave their inspiring speeches to encourage the members to continue Boys’ Brigade. Everyone listened attentively and enjoyed the moment.

The next thing on the agenda was a video presentation of one year review and progress in 12th Kuala Lumpur Company. After the video presentation, Pastor Koe Swee Kee, Chaplain of 12th Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade Company gave us the word of God. After that was the Awards Presentation, where the badges that the members worked hard for were given out to them.

Then, it was the performance from our very owned Percussion Ensemble. Once the performance ends, it was time for testimony of the members who would like to share their experience in Boys’ Brigade. The first testimony was given by Sergeant Nicholas Ng. His speech was very fascinating. Followed by that, Pastor Koe was accompanied by Captain Nicholas up on stage for the second round of Awards presentation. Then Mr Andy Tan came up the stage to give out the NCO Training School (NTS) Certificate to the members who

passed the NTS and also the 100% attendance award to Private Chong Jet Shen (Now a Lance Corporal)

Shortly after this, the 12th Kuala Lumpur had a singing performance for the guests. After the performance, it was the time for the second testimony, which was spoken by Corporal Ajith Nair. Then, it was time when our sedulous leader of 12th Kuala Lumpur Company, Mr Nicholas Yeap to give a speech. After that Lieutenant Andrew Tan came up the stage to

announce the new Lance Corporals. Private Aaron Leong. Then it followed by Private Alan Tan, Private Anders Yew, Private Chong Jet Shen, Private Chris Wong, Private Darryl Yeow, Private Dominic Wong, Private Ernest Tan, Private Ethan Bin, Private Gerald Ng, Private Issac Wong, Private Lee Ming Jun, Private Leong Ming Hin, Private Oscar Koo, Private Shawn Goey and Private Wesley Pu were caught by the surprise when their name were announced. Then, it was time for the promotion of the current Lance Corporal to Corporal. They were Lance Corporal Ang Guo Weng, Lance Corporal Chew Jian Xun, Lance Corporal Jasper Chin, Lance Corporal Justin Tan, Lance Corporal Sin Yi Heng and Lance Corporal Zander Cheah. To sum up, there were sixteen members who got promoted from Private to Lance Corporal and six members from Lance Corporal to Corporal. Then, chaplain led the officers to take the rededication pledge, followed by the NCO’s and members.

After Enrolment Service, everybody rose as it was time for the marching out of the colour party and it was accompanied by the closing hymn, Onward Christian Soldiers. Then, closing prayer was lead by Pastor Koe to thank God for the event that went out smoothly. Then, the emcees went up the stage to lead us for BB Vesper. After that, a group photo was taken by Staff Sergeant Jack Lim in front of the stage. Good things always come to an end, Enrolment and Awards Day ended and everyone proceeded to the canteen to enjoy the delicious food prepared by the NCOs. The Enrolment and Awards Day was drawn a grandiose full stop at 12.00pm.
