After that the campers were allocated within their respective divisions which were the Photography Division and the Writing Division which were headed by Lance Corporal Teh Eng Hong and Lance Corporal Jorn Tan respectively. During the session, the division leader for each division explained what the division functions as and what is expected of each member. After the session, the campers had free time for an hour to wash up, rest and prepare for the Target Test which was going to be held the next day during parade.
After the campers had dinner, a writing workshop was held by Mr. Andrew Tan. He covered the concepts of a good article and shown us some nicely done articles as reference. After that Lance Corporal Teh Eng Hong had a briefing regarding Mission Impossible. Mission Impossible comprised of Writing and Photography Assignments. The aim of Mission Impossible was to stimulate the constraint of time a member will face in the course of carrying out their duties in the Media Department, teach members to manage their time well as well as to put what they learnt in the Writing and Photography Workshops to the test. It was to be carried out in groups which were assigned and each group had to edit some photos as well as to write two articles from a selection of four topics of various genres with a minimum word count of 500. After that we had supper and at ten thirty at night, we retired for the night.
Day 2
The campers woke up at 6 a.m. sharp and freshened up and prepared themselves for a new day and changed into their BB Uniform. For the Recruits it was an important day for them as later on during Parade, they are going to go through a test which will determine whether they pass or fail the Target Badge which is the Target Test. At 6.30 a.m., the campers filled in at the Assembly Ground and they were briefed by Lance Corporal Teh Eng Hong regarding what is going to happen afterwards. After the instructions were given, the campers sung Table Grace and filled out and had breakfast. Then the members went for Parade.
At 12.45, the campers were filled in at the assembly ground before they went for lunch. During that period of time, more instructions were given as to where they should be later as well as some reminders regarding what they should not do. After Table Grace was sung, the campers went to the canteen for lunch. At two o’clock in the afternoon, the members gathered back into the Dutton Hall for the next activity. A Photography Workshop was carried out by Sergeant Jack Lim. During the workshop, Jack covered the concepts of photography, terms found when using a camera like ‘ISO’, ‘shutter speed’ ‘exposure’ and many more. Jack then took the campers out to the assembly to try taking pictures in Manual mode under many different settings with their cameras. At 3 p.m., the campers gathered back in the Dutton Hall, soaked in sweat then had a 5 minute break to freshen up before the next activity conducted by Lance Corporal Teh Eng Hong commenced. After the break, Lance Corporal Eng Hong led the members in updating the company notice board. After an hour and 45 minutes the members gathered back in the Dutton Hall and went off for what a camper looks forward to: Free time.
At 6.30 p.m., the members filled in at the Assembly Ground. Just like the previous times, the members sung Table Grace and instructions were given as to where they should go to next. After a sumptuous dinner, the members gathered in the Dutton Hall at 7.30 a.m. for the second Writing Workshop which was once again conducted by Lieutenant Andrew Tan. During the workshop he covered the various common mistakes made by writers. After that the members had some free time during which they either washed up or worked on their Mission Impossible Task. Day 3
The campers woke up at 6 a.m. sharp and freshened up and prepared themselves for a new day. At 6.30 a.m., the campers filled in at the assembly ground and sung table grace and after that, they went and enjoyed a hearty breakfast. At 7.00, devotion was held at the Dutton Hall, led by Lieutenant Andrew Tan. He shared regarding the powers of media has and also shared the importance of obeying God as the Almighty.
After devotion, the members handed in their Mission Impossible tasks to Lance Corporal Teh Eng Hong by saving it onto his pen drive. After all the groups have submitted, the campers went to pack up their belongings and placed their luggage inside the Dutton Hall. Who then passed the pen drive to the trainers who were Lieutenant Andrew Tan and Sergeant Jack Lim for evaluation? The campers had a game called “Operation: Missing in Action”. The campers have to find the two NCOs who were Lance Corporal Jorn Tan and Lance Corporal Eng Hong who decided to ‘disappear’ while they were packing up their belongings. The aim of the game was to test members on their ability of functioning as a team without their leaders present. Once the members found the two NCOs, they have to perform several tasks which tested their ability to work as a team.
After the game, the members went back to the Dutton Hall for a reflection session conducted by Sergeant Jack Lim where the members shared regarding what they learnt as well as gave feedback regarding the ups and downs of the camp. Afterwards the results of Mission Impossible was announced and prizes were given out to the winning groups. The Runners Up was Group 1 while the winning group was Group 4. Afterwards the campers received their pries. Afterwards a group photo was taken and the members went on their separate ways.
